Map Lords

Privacy policy

Effective October 18, 2026. Data controller: Moussa Troiano, publisher of the site (see the legal notice).

In short

1. Data stored on your device (local storage)

The game uses the browser's local storage (localStorage), which is not sent to the server, except the statistics ID described in section 2. It is not an advertising cookie and is not used to track you on other sites. It contains:

KeyContent
guerre-save-v1Your current solo game, to resume it
guerre-diff, guerre-naiChosen AI level and number of rival Houses
guerre-lang, guerre-deviceLanguage and device type (desktop or mobile)
guerre-audioMusic and sound effect volumes
guerre-tuto-vuWhether you finished or skipped the tutorial
guerre-bestYour best scores per level
guerre-nameThe last player name used online
guerre-pidRandom ID for statistics (section 2)

The game also stores its files in the browser cache to work offline. You can erase everything at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser settings.

2. Gameplay statistics

To improve the game, it sends anonymous events to its server: game opened, game start and end (mode, level, starting territory, win or loss, number of territories, length) and tutorial progress, along with the platform (web, Discord or CrazyGames), language and device type. You are identified by the random ID guerre-pid, not by your name or IP address. If you play online or on Discord, the player name shown in the game is also recorded.

The start and end of each game (platform, mode, length, name of the winning House or player) are posted in a private Discord channel of the publisher.

Game usage measurement: on every platform, the game also sends usage events (open and close, tutorial start, completion or skip, game start and end with the map, mode, number of human players, result, length and number of territories). Each batch carries a random session ID, recreated at every launch, the platform, the game version and the browser language. When the game opens, the server also counts the country you play from, derived from your IP address by the host (Vercel): only the country is recorded, never the IP address, to decide which maps and languages to add. In the Discord Activity it also carries the IDs of the activity instance, the server and the voice channel, plus your Discord user ID. The server immediately turns the latter into an irreversible fingerprint (HMAC-SHA256 with a secret key): neither your Discord ID in clear nor your username is stored. This fingerprint is still pseudonymous data under the GDPR: it is only used to count unique and returning players (retention). Purpose: usage statistics to improve the game. Data is kept as daily counters, automatically deleted after 13 months; only a log of the last 500 events is kept for checking. It is never sold or shared.

Site audience measurement: the site and the web game use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits (page views, referring page, country, device and browser type). This tool sets no cookie and does not store IP addresses: each visitor is recognized by an anonymous fingerprint recomputed every day, which cannot follow them from one day to the next or across other sites. It is not used in the Discord Activity or on CrazyGames.

This data is hosted by Vercel and stored at Upstash (database). It is kept for 13 months at most, is only visible to the publisher and is never sold. Legal basis: the publisher's legitimate interest in measuring audience and fixing the game. To limit abuse, the server keeps the IP address for at most 2 minutes, only to count requests.

3. Online play

On the website, online games connect players' devices directly (WebRTC). The PeerJS matchmaking service (0.peerjs.com), the Cloudflare relay used when a direct connection fails, and the other players in the game can see your IP address, as with any peer-to-peer online game. What travels: your player name, language and game orders. They are not recorded.

4. Discord Activity

In Discord, the game asks for the identify permission to show your Discord name to other players, and rpc.activities.write to display your game status. The server exchanges the authorization code for an access token and returns it to your device without keeping it. Games go through a WebSocket relay (Cloudflare) that forwards messages between players without recording them. Discord applies its own privacy policy. There are no ads in the Discord Activity.

5. Cookies and advertising (Google AdSense)

The site's information pages (not the game) may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, personalize them based on your visits to this and other sites, limit how often they repeat and measure their performance. These cookies are set by Google, not by Map Lords.

Google's advertising partners that may be involved are listed in the consent message.

6. Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (United States), which may process technical logs (IP address, date, requested page) to run and secure the service. Transfers outside the European Union to Vercel, Upstash, Cloudflare and Google rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Children

The game does not knowingly collect any personal data from children and asks for no identity information. On Discord, the minimum age is the one set by Discord.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can request access to your data, its correction or deletion, or object to its processing. Write to moussatroiano@gmail.com and tell us which device you play on. You can also clear the site's data to get a new statistics ID. If you believe your rights are not respected, you can contact the French data protection authority, the CNIL.

9. Changes

This policy may change along with the game. The date at the top shows the latest update.
